Famous couple splitting after 72 days of marriage June 26, 2017

Unless you have been living under a rock, whether you like it or not, it is likely that most have heard about the marriage and now impending divorce of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries. The wedding was attended by a barrage of famous people and was later broadcast as a televised special that was watched by more than 4 million viewers. Earlier this week news broke that Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce in Florida after only 72 days of marriage.

Depending on the specific circumstances surrounding each situation, there are many things that Illinois couples will need to sort out in the course of the divorce. If as is the case of the Kardashian-Humphries marriage, children are not involved, the main issue is usually a division of assets and debts and possibly alimony or spousal support. The complexity of this determination is dependent on the amount and type of assets and debts the couple has.

Divorcing couples who have children will need to take their needs into consideration. This is often emotionally difficult for all parties involved. In addition to establishing child custody and visitation, child support payments will need to be established as well.

It is unlikely that the Kardashian-Humphries divorce will be long and drawn-out. This is due to a couple of reasons starting with the length of the marriage. Because the duration of the union was less than three months, it is doubtful that much mingling of assets was done. Even if it was however, the fact that the two signed a prenuptial agreement prior to the event will probably make matters relatively easy to sort out.

W Hotel in Atlanta sued for wrongful death after window fall May 5, 2017

Over a month ago, a woman died after falling out of a window in the W Hotel in Atlanta. During her stay at the hotel, she and a friend crashed through the window on the tenth floor. After her death, the woman’s family filed a wrongful death claim against the W Hotel and other entities alleging that the window was not strong enough.

Two other individuals reported in an unrelated incident that the window in their room at that hotel fell out onto the ground. Because no one was hurt, the two simply paid for the broken window. But are the windows too thin?

Though the hotel administered a statement saying that the windows were properly installed and up to standards, several other incidents have occurred in other states that raise the question of safety. Several people were injured last month when glass panels fell onto the pool deck of a W Hotel. This happened on three separate occasions, prompting officials to close the hotel.

Investigators are still looking into the different incidents, maintaining that the circumstances in each incident are different. But especially for the family of the woman who was killed, the biggest question is whether the death could have been prevented.

Were the windows strong enough or were they too thin for their intended purpose? One would hope that windows several stories up would be able to withstand a person accidentally slamming into it. However until the investigation closes, this question will likely remain unanswered.

Even if the question is answered, the family of the woman who was killed will still be dealing with the loss of a loved one. No amount of money could bring her back. But a wrongful death lawsuit could not only provide compensation for their loss, it is also a way to hold the hotel and its owners responsible. Raising this type of awareness could help prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future.

Hulk’s ex claims the star got violent outside of the ring April 12, 2017

He is a legendary American icon, the first star that comes to mind when it comes to wrestling – Hulk Hogan. He and his wife divorced back in 2009, but the drama from their relationship continues to be in the spotlight.

The star wrestler’s ex, Linda Hogan, has written what’s supposedly an autobiographical book about her marriage to one of the world’s favorite wrestlers. Among various allegations in her book, Hogan claims that she was a victim of domestic violence at the hands of Hulk Hogan and needed divorce lawyers to help her.

In 2005, the Hogan family starred in a VH1 reality show, making it hard to believe for some that any violence was going on between the couple. The family had its difficulties, but overall, the situation appeared to be pretty peaceful.

In a TV interview with Matt Lauer, Linda Hogan answered why she is coming forward now with these claims against her ex. She says that because she’s out of marriage now, she doesn’t have to worry as much about how the alleged truth would affect the young kids, her own safety or her ex’s career.

Linda Hogan attributes her ex’s violence to his work in the wrestling world. Wrestlers get hurt all of the time and are prescribed pain pills. She claims that Hulk’s consistent use of prescription drugs affected his temper. She also suggests that steroids contributed to his violent mood swings.

In response to his ex-wife’s inflammatory claims, Hulk reportedly told sources that he has never physically harmed her. He insinuates that she is trying to make some money off of his name.

The Devastating Condition of Cerebral Palsy December 8, 2016

Cerebral palsy occurs just before, during and after delivery can result when doctors and nurses do not use the required care when delivering a baby and cause injury to the baby’s brain. Examples of this include failure to recognize distress or lack of oxygen in the baby, a delayed c-section and head trauma during an assisted delivery. Therefore, prenatal care is extremely important and doctors are supposed to provide comprehensive care to ensure proper development.
Cerebral palsy can be a devastating condition causing lifelong problems with the baby’s motor functions and is most common in babies born premature.
Researchers in the Netherlands have found, though, that cases of cerebral palsy are on the decline and it is likely due to general improvements in the care of infants. The study looked at more than 3,000 babies born premature between 1990 and 2005. The researchers found that the rate of cases had declined by 6.5 percent over the period of time studied. It also appeared that the cases of cerebral palsy decreased in severity in more recent years. The researchers believe that these results were due to a significant decline in white matter lesions in the brain, a kind of brain injury that occurs around the time of birth.
It was also reported that similar studies conducted in other countries, like the Unities States and Canada, reported analogous results.
One possible reason for the improvements in the care of infants and therefore the decline in cerebral palsy cases could be the threat of litigation that can occur if medical malpractice is responsible for the injury. Today, doctors and nurses know that investigations will likely be conducted to see if their negligence played a role in the injury, and if it did, they could face a costly law suit from a Coral springs personal injury attorney.
